Associate Developer, Business Central

Key Responsibilities  

  • Participate in customer conversations to understand customer concerns, desired outcomes, and business requirements. 
  • Implement and develop small Business Central customizations and page/report modifications. 
  • Assist with API mappings and basic data imports, including items, vendors, and customers. 
  • Provide clear task status updates, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute input during team discussions and collaborative problem-solving. 
  • Manage assigned tasks effectively, meet commitments, take responsibility for deliverables, and seek guidance when needed. 
  • Monitor and triage support Business Central support requests, and escalate when necessary.  
  • Contribute to test plan creation to validate the viability of proposed solutions. 
  • Write reports using SSRS/Report Builder and Word XML Editor. 
  • Learn CI/CD basics in Azure DevOps and assist with solution packaging. 
  • Learn and follow established methods, standards, tools, and approaches for project work and customer solutions. 
  • Understand core operations and finance flows at a high level, including posting groups, item flows, and the customer/vendor lifecycle. 
  • Trace how a requested change affects a single process and related reports. 

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of Business Central development, including small customizations, page/report modifications, AL extension patterns, and solution packaging. 
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to JourneyTeam’s mission, values, and customer priorities. 
  • Familiarity with core business processes such as accounting, distribution, or manufacturing. 
  • Experience with or exposure to data conversion, basic data imports, and API mappings. 
  • Ability to model basic business processes, troubleshoot issues, and participate in analytical discussions with guidance. 
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, DevOps, GitHub, Visual Studio, CI/CD basics in Azure DevOps, and development in a multi-developer environment. 
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to create customer solutions using an extension model for cloud-based solutions. 
  • Consistent adherence to established methods, standards, and processes. 
  • Experience completing defined tasks accurately, seeks feedback, and demonstrates curiosity and a commitment to continuous technical learning. 
  • An attitude of accountability, professionalism, reliability, respect, openness, and collaboration. 

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Familiarity with multiple ISV applications in the accounting and warehousing modules of NAV/Business Central. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM. 
  • Knowledge of common e-commerce packages, their function, and integration capabilities. 
  • Practice writing integrations with 3PL providers. 
  • Experience with Power BI and data warehousing. 
  • Knowledge of D365 Finance and Supply Chain. 
  • Exposure to integration technologies such as KingswaySoft/SSIS, Dataverse, Power Apps, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Data Factory, REST APIs, or EOne SmartConnect.  

Pathway to Success

30 Days  

  • Complete Business Central development onboarding and core training.
  • Successfully complete assigned development and support tasks with guidance. 
  • Demonstrate consistent communication, status updates, and time entry compliance. 

60 Days 

  • Independently complete small development tasks and support requests. 
  • Participate in customer meetings and contribute to solution discussions. 
  • Follow development standards, source control, testing, and deployment processes 

6 months   

  • Achieve and maintain 75% CER. 
  • Independently deliver small customizations from requirement through deployment.
  • Become a trusted contributor on support and project work, requiring minimal day-to-day oversight. 

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $65,000 - $95,000 + performance based bonus program. Eligibility and payout are tied to individual contributions, team performance, and overall company success.

This is the established pay range for the Associate Developer role on the ERP AI practice at JourneyTeam. Actual compensation is dependent on the skills demonstrated, relevant experience, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities. In general, new employees can expect to start at the lower end of the range (with opportunity to grow and expand within the organization).
